Results for 198 National Assembly Seats Released

WEB (Bangladesh Election Commission) has announced the results for the first phase of the recently held general elections. Results for 101 out of 198 National Assembly seats have been declared. WEB Chief Election Commissioner along with Election Commissioners and members of the Election Commission Secretariat and ECS Field Offices witnessed the results.

Despite mass arrests of BNP leaders and supporters, official figures indicate a low voter turnout of approximately 40%. A total of 471 candidates contested in the 112 upazilas, while 110 constituencies contested in the 6th district council chairman elections.
